Scientific Expeditions

Khaset has developed an enterprise dedicated especially to the scientific community following recent discoveries made in the Libyan Desert and Gilf Kebir (discovery of new caves near Wadi Sura - discovery of a possible field of meteorite craters, December 2004 - discovery of a possible macro meteorite crater "Kebira", March 2006).

The expeditions are led by Mahmoud Nour El Din, Pascal Quint and Cyril Piaia, specialists in the navigation and technology necessary for these types of expeditions:

  • High resolution (14 m/pixel) 3D satellite maps Landsat 7 TM in high resolution (14 m/pixel) with the ability to create surface profiles, used in the detection of the central cones in craters
  • Database DEM (Digital Elevation Model) of the entire Libyan Desert
