Your Arrival

Meet and assist at the airport, transfer and check-in at the hotel. Afternoon free. You will meet your guide either at the hotel the first day or the morning of the second day.

Cars

Recent model, air conditioned mini-buses and buses are used for all tranfers.
Well maintained Toyota Land Cruisers (or equivalent) are used in the desert.

Lodging

  • 3 star hotels in Cairo and Luxor, single or double
  • Camping in the desert
  • Huts in Baharya Oasis
  • Bungalows on the sea in Sharm el Sheikh

Transfers

The transfers from the airports to your destination's departure point are carried out with the travel agency's buses. In Egypt, the streets are paved and in good condition. The rare long drives are broken up with rest stops along the way.

Domestic Flights

All domestic flights are on EgyptAir.

Hiking and Camel Trips

  • The legs are limited to a reasonable amount of time (4 - 5 hours daily) and are suitable for all healthy persons.
  • On hiking trips, baggage is carried by camels or by an accompanying vehicle. 
  • On camel trips, each person has a camel at their disposal and can ride as they please. The baggage is also carried by camel.

Expeditions

  • Due to the long distances one must be in good physical condition in order to participate.
  • Cars :  Toyota Land Cruiser 4x4s, specially equipped for the desert (extra tanks, air compressor, suspension, etc.), 3 persons (+ driver) maximum per car
  • Navigation :  high tech (PC, satellite images, GPS, etc.) and conventional tools (maps, compass)
  • Communication :  Thuraya satellite phones are used to contact and report to our base

Camping

Spend the night under the stars in the fresh air or in a tent.  We provide the following material for all our trips :
  • "Igloo 3 person" tents for 2 persons
  • Thick foam mattresses
  • Ground carpets
  • Wind breakers
  • Kitchen and eating utensils

Guiding

All of our trips are led by experienced desert guides. The guide is responsible for the group and can modify the specifics of the trip if he deems it necessary for reasons of safety, change in weather or in the case of an emergency. Due to Egyptian tourism laws, your desert guide will not be able to accompany you in all archeological sites. In this case, you will be guided by a certified historical guide.

Meals

Meals are well balanced and designed for the special requirements of each type of trip.  On camping trips the meals are prepared by a cook.

    * Breakfast:  - Coffe, tea, chocolat
                        - Biscuits and bread, jam, honey
                        - Cereal, milk
                        - Oranges, dried fruits (dates)

    * Lunch:        - Salads (vegetable, tabbouleh)
                        - Tuna, sardines, mackerel
                        - Cheese
                        - Dessert (fruits, halawa)   

    * Dinner:       - Soup
                         - Pasta, rice, lentils
                         - (meat when possible)
                         - Cheese
                         - Dessert
Drinks
Mineral water or (if necessary) potable water filtered with a ceramic filter made by Micropur is supplied for all our trips.
